Mixed media

Mixed media refers to the form of art which uses multiple media to construct a singular piece of artwork. Different traditionally used mediums are employed together as an aesthetic whole, but should be understood differently from multimedia art, which would mean the use of both visual and non-visual elements like sound and arts like literature and dance. The artwork will be invested with a diverse range of mediums ranging from the traditional to more avant-garde, created using a host of different techniques that would suit the different elements together. The choosing of the different mediums could be an aesthetic call or a political statement that the artist wishes to make.
