Fresco

Fresco is a technique of mural painting implemented on a freshly laid lime plaster. This technique has been known for over 10,000 years now. The pigment is mixed with water on a thin layer of wet, fresh, lime plaster. The wet plaster absorbs the pigment and dries off in a few hours. A chemical reaction fixes the pigment particles in the plaster. After this the painting stays on for centuries in fresh and brilliant colours.
